Jim Pollock Prints for Charitable Sales

By Steve the Voice - Posted on February 17 2010

Revered music poster artist Jim Pollock has been laying down the linoleum for years now. Back in the late-80s, he began his artistic journey making pen and ink posters to advertise shows for an emerging University of Vermont band calling themselves Phish. Since then, he’s created more art for Phish as well as The Disco Biscuits and has recently moved on to environmental and social protest themes. We’ve always admired his work, many of us being fans of the UVM band, so we felt compelled to reach out to Mr. Pollock after creating our latest spring seasonal, Vinyl. After all, a great beer needs a great label. And he created just that. He also agreed to create a special poster for our annual Mardi Gras Parade this year.

Now, in support of two spectacular organizations, Jim Pollock has made special, limited edition prints that Magic Hat will be selling. Proceeds from the Vinyl prints, of which there are 425, will go to The Waterwheel Foundation. Proceeds from the limited edition Mardi Gras prints, of which there are 325, will go to benefit The Women’s Rape Crisis Center of Burlington.

Vinyl prints will go on sale at 10am tomorrow, February 18th, only at the Magic Hat Artifactory, one per person, here in South Burlington, VT. Sorry, but no online or phone orders can be taken at this time.

Mardi Gras prints will be released the day of the Mardi Gras Parade, Saturday, February 27th. Prints will be on sale beginning at 12pm at the former Maplehurst Florist building on the mall block of Church St., next to Banana Republic, where Mr. Pollock will be appearing in person until 2:30pm. Posters will be available on a first come, first serve basis, one per person, until they are gone or until 5pm.

Any prints left over after the Parade on Saturday will be brought to the Artifactory on Sunday, where Mr. Pollock will be personalizing them from 12pm to 3pm. Any posters left after Sunday afternoon will be sold on our website the following week. We’ll update this blog to reflect that opportunity as soon as information on leftover prints is made available to us.

Cheers!
