#9 Thanksgiving Turkey

Every Thanksgiving, my family and I make the trip from Southern New York and New Jersey to Smugglers' Notch Vermont. We spend the week drinking and eating and Thanksgiving Day is no different! This year, my mom handed over bird duties to my dad and I. With a little research and some divine intervention, we prepared quite possibly the best Thanksgiving Turkey ever...
Ingredients14-17 lb. turkey
1 orange, quartered
1 lemon, quartered
1 onion, quartered
fresh rosemary
fresh sage
fresh oregano
3 cups Magic Hat #9
1 stick of butter/margarine
Cooking InstructionsPlace your bird inside a large roasting pan. Place the orange and lemon wedges, onion, and 2 sprigs of each fresh herb in the main turkey cavity. Tie the legs together to hold the shape of the turkey. Cut the stick of butter up into small pieces and place between the turkey meat and skin. Remove the remaining fresh herbs from the sprigs and combine with 3 cups of #9. Pour over your bird.
Follow the turkey manufactures directions for oven temperature and time in the oven.
Every 30 minutes, bast the turkey with the #9 mixture. Cover your bird with foil once it turns golden brown.
Remove from oven and let sit for 30 minutes outside of pan with juices.
Serve and enjoy!
