Proud to be in its fifth year, Wall to Canvas is an annual live art competition hosted at Magic Hat’s unique South Burlington Artifactory. Magic Hat has been putting a performance in every bottle of craft brew since 1994 and The Shelburne Craft School is where craft has been made in Vermont, since opening back in 1945. Together they create an event that boasts cold beers, fresh art, live music, and an opportunity to take a piece of it all home with you!
Wall to Canvas features twelve artists that are chosen from around the region for their style and creativity. Competing live, they each start with large blank canvases and finish with off-the-wall and into-your-home masterpieces! The freshly created artwork will be sold at the end of the day in a live auction, with 50% of the proceeds going directly to the artist and 50% to fund educational programs at the Shelburne Craft School. Artists will compete live to win one very nice prize: $500 cash and a solo exhibit at Magic Hat Artifactory! Special guest judges will have their work cut out for them in choosing the winner!.
We hope you’ll join us for a cold beer and some bold artwork at Magic Hat’s Artifactory for this year’s Wall to Canvas.
The Shelburne Craft School opened its doors in 1945, creating a space for artists and artisans to work, learn, and educate members of the community in wood, clay, metal, glass, and visual art. It was founded by Reverend Lynwood Smith in 1938, as a small community project in the church rectory, and with support from Aileen Osborn Webb, a major proponent in the American Craft Movement and the American Craft Council during the first half of the twentieth century, and on-going support by local artists and craftspeople, the Shelburne Craft School has continued to adhere to its mission to inspire individual creativity by providing hands-on education in craft and art.
